Tasty Tuesday Teamwork!

Mrs. Cole's First Graders were the most recent class to turn their hand to menu design, with this week's "Rainbow Lunch." In addition to cooking the colorful lunch, the BHCS kitchen crew created this hand-y rainbow to serve it with! Thanks to everyone who has helped with this Be Well theme activity this year!
Today's Game is a Rainout
Hello A Baseball Parents,
Today's home game scheduled at 4:30 with Bar Harbor has been cancelled due to rain. I am currently trying to reschedule. I will let you know how it plays out.
Reminder that there is an away game tomorrow for both baseball and softball with MDES in Northeast Harbor. Game time is 4:30. The bus will stop again on the way home, so please make sure your child has money for dinner if they are taking the bus home.
If you have any questions, please don't hestitate to let me know.
Thanks,

Autism Awareness Video
After watching The Pink Glove Dance, 5th graders at Blue Hill Consolidated School were inspired to make a similar video in support of a cause they were learning about in April -- Autism Awareness. They made this video with help from their teacher, Mrs. Nightingale, and with the support of all the students and staff at BHCS.

Author/Illustrator Chris Van Dusen Visits Blue Hill

BHCS and the Blue Hill Public Library (BHPL) collaborated to bring
Camden author/illustrator Chris Van Dusen to Blue Hill this week during
Children's Book Week. He spent the day with our Kindergarten-Fifth
Graders, sharing how he makes his books and revealing some secrets you
can find inside them! He was impressed when our students were the
first ones to accurately identify that one of his books was in Korean
(thanks to Mrs. Ricker!). Students had a chance to do a variety of
other things during the day, which included hearing A Camping Spree with Mr. Magee
inside a camper, making handmade accordian/camper/Library Mouse books,
getting a hands-on look at sea creatures with MERI, creating great
inventions from recycled items, contributing to 3 episodic stories, and
learning more about the real story behind The Circus Ship. Check the school website for some pictures of the day.
Thanks to Miss Nelson, Mrs. Schildroth and Ms. Jackson for planning the
day, to Mrs. Larkin for securing a "circus ship" for the lobby, to everyone
who contributed a circus animal or building supplies, and all who
helped with the activities. Thanks also to BHPL Youth Services
Librarian, Pat Horton, who applied for the grant from the Rose and
Samuel Rudman Library Trust that helped fund Mr. Van Dusen's visit to
the school and the Public Library later that afternoon, and who shared
details of the library collection and the upcoming summer reading
program, "Make a Splash at the Library." Students can sign up the week
after school is out -- it is easy and fun!
